double breasted overcoat

A vintage, heavy overcoat by English designer JASPER CONRAN. Produced in a heavy but soft wool / cashmere melton, the coat has a double breasted front placket which is fastened with ornate gold buttons, and can be worn with the neck buttoned all the way up, with the flaps folded down, or entirely open. The detailing of the coat is restrained, except for the buttons mentioned and two sharply angled flap pockets at the waist. Due to the double breasted closure and generous, elongated cut, a huge amount of fabric has been used to make the coat, resulting in a comfortable, voluminous silhouette.
The Jacket was made in England, during the period before production of many JASPER CONRAN garments was moved offshore. This particular jacket was a gift to the store from someone who lived in London from the 1970s through to the early 1990s, and purchased it during her time there.
