Dirk Bikkembergs - german-born belgian fashion designer, part of a cohort who studied at the royal academy of fine arts antwerp in the 1980s (often referred to as the 'antwerp 6'). Bikkembergs produced highly influential footwear but also striking and at times singular knitwear, outerwear, tailoring, and accessories that might variously be described as: aggressive, rough, sexy, smooth, sporty, strong, sultry, surprising, tailored, tough, etc. He made particular use of leather, metal, and synthetics.
