MA-1 bomber jacket

A black MA-1 bomber jacket from RICK OWENS DRKSHDW. One of his staple pieces, this version was produced for S/S 2014 in a blend of polyamide nylon and cotton with a subtle sheen. Its details and finishing are recognisably those of the original MA-1, designed for the US military around 1950: a zipped front placket, diagonal, press button welt pockets at the waist, zipped shoulder pocket, and ribbed neckline, cuffs, and hem. Keeping these traditional details, what makes Owens' version interesting is the cut, which is elongated through the body, lengthening the silhouette of the wearer, and cut very narrow through the arms. This gives the jacket a much sleeker, more fitted appearance than a traditional MA-1 bomber, which is cut shorter and wider.

The internal details are as you would expect from a DRKSHDW garment, with two hidden, zipped interior pockets, blank, double rectangular tags at the back neck, and the DRKSHDW tag showing a silhouetted figure of Owens. The jacket has minor wear, with a few small marks on the body and some wear to the paint of the zippers (see pictures).
