maison martin margiela line 6 gradient dyed zip neck cardigan - early 2000s

A zip neck cardigan from MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA line 6. Produced in a thick wool / nylon knit, the fabric has been gradient dyed, with a light yellow brown colour at the top that becomes gradually darker until it is almost brown-black at the cuffs and hem. The cardigan's metal zip can be zipped all the way up the front neck. The thread tension of the overlocking used to join the pieces of the cardigan together has been left loose so that the white, contrast stitching is visible between seams, and the straight row of stitching which secures the garment tag is visible on the back of the cardigan. As was customary for line 6 from this period, the back neck has been stamped to categorise the garment, in this instance "CARDIGAN."
