Issey Miyake AW2000 detachable faux fur collar 3D dome or egg carton coat S M L
Full length coat by issey miyake, from autumn winter 2000. Made from a brown, spongy-feeling nylon-polyurethane twill, the surface of the coat is covered with large, 3D spheres often described by others as resembling "egg cartons" but which to these eye look more like domes. One interesting touch (and a touch that bodes well for the prospect of sitting without squashing the domes) is that the front domes are convex while the back domes are concave.
A large, //very// heavy faux fur collar runs the whole length of the opening (left front placket, neck, right front placket), and can be removed via a series of buttons (which in theory at least gives three configurations: coat with faux fur collar attached, coat without faux fur collar attached, faux fur collar worn on its own or with another garment).
The coat itself (as opposed to the collar) can be fastened and also unfastened via press studs on the front. There are two angled patch pockets at the waist, and the coat is fully-lined in blue fleece which contrasts sharply with the brown surface fabric. A thin ribbon of the lining material is visible along the front placket edge if the coat is worn sans collar, and also at the cuffs.
The coat is in excellent condition for its age, with a couple of small pulls (see picture 10), and some loss of dome-structure (inevitable, and largely occurring under the area where the faux fur collar sits).
