A black, worsted wool blazer by COMME DES GARCONS HOMME. Manufactured in 2003, it has a conventional 3 button front, notch lapels, two patch pockets at the waist and a smaller, horisontal welt pocket at the breast. The exterior seams of the jacket, at the shoulder, armhole, side seams, centre back, and sleeves, have been finished with a clear, adhesive vinyl tape. Tape of this kind is commonly used on the inside of mountaineering, outdoor, and other waterproof garments to prevent water coming into the jacket at the seams. But here, applied to the outside of the blazer, it takes on a skeletal appearance, the seams as the structural bones on which the woolen body of the blazer hangs.

Placed as it is at the points where stress is applied to the blazer, the tape will continue to crack and age further with additional wear. As the garment tag outlines:
"The polyurethane tape may change colour with friction due to wear and cleaning. The tape may peel or tear... the tape will deteriorate gradually in the course of time."
