pinstripe shift dress

This product is sold out

This long shift dress from COMME DES GARCONS' AW 1992 collection is made from a substantial, medium weight black wool with a subtle, woven stripe running the length of the fabric. At the front of the dress are three large patch pockets, one at the breast with two at the waist, which are cut in two by seams that run from the neckline down through the pockets. These leaves each pocket split in two, with one side fairly large and the other quite small, more or less unusable except for ultra narrow objects like pens. It is a fairly simple construction detail that nonetheless gives the dress a really unusual appearance. The dress has an elegant scooped neck and generous armholes, and a soft, straight fall through the body, with some cinching at the waist. The simplicity of the dress, apart from the seam through the pockets, really draws attention to the beauty of the striped fabric. The construction and details are of a high standard, with self fabric facings at the neckline and armholes.
