This skirt from COMME DES GARCONS' A/W 1992 collection is made using three different body fabrics. A black, worsted wool pinstripe is used for most of the front with a shiny black satin at the waist, in addition to a solid black, melton-like wool at the back. The satin section changes to the wool pinstripe part way down the skirt's front fly and the diagonal slash pockets at the waist, constructed beautifully so that these details continue seamlessly despite the change in fabric. And the entirely different fabric used at the back also has a striking effect, giving the impression of an entirely different skirt from what you see at the front. The skirt has a gentle A-Line shape, starting narrow at the waist and flaring out to be quite voluminous at the hem which moves nicely when worn. As you'd expect from COMME DES GARCONS, the skirt is well made and well finished.
