cotton drill lab coat

Regular price $240.00
This lovely vintage lab coat is made from a hardy, white cotton drill which is both slightly stiff and quite soft. The fabric is also sanforized (a process developed in 1928 by American inventor Sanford Lockwood Cluett, which involves stretching and then washing a fabric prior to pattern pieces being cut), so that the garment will not shrink when washed. The lab coat is unlined, and features a sharp notch lapel, curved / articulated sleeves, three patch pockets at the front, and an unusual plastic button which is secured using a metal clasp hidden by the facing on the inside. It was manufactured in Australia by BRADMILL CLOTH, a Melburne-based fabric manufacturer that has been in operation since 1927.
