Red knee length skirt from junya watanabe comme des garcons (spring summer 1996). Made from a smooth and slinky nylon with just the faintest sheen, it has a 'paper bag' style waist - starting off open and designed to be cinched to the waist of the wearer via drawstrings. The construction is unexpected: although the skirt has a centre back seam, what appears at first to be sideseams and a centre front seam are revealed upon closer looking to be unusually long darts (used to give the skirt just a lil bit of shape).

Although intended to be worn as a skirt, it may be possible to wear it as a halter-style mini dress or top by tying the drawstrings around the neck (see pictures 2, 5).
