Peter Storm 1998 cream W1 proofed wool popcorn knit waterproof beanie
A cream wool beanie by british outdoor company peter storm (1998), made in a variation of their "715" watchcap style. It is knitted in a 'popcorn knit' style, appearing like bobbly circles with small gaps in between. The beanie has been treated with peter storm's W1 proofing, which makes the surface of the beanie waterproof without reducing wool's absorbent qualities. A 2002 peter storm product list describes the 715 watchcap beanie as follows: "perfect warm and water repellent head wear in the traditional watchcap design. Made long enough so that the brim can be pulled down over the ears in extremely cold conditions".
Good vintage condition. Please note that although fibres / surface of fabric is waterproof, water will get through gaps in the knit.
