Junya watanabe's winter 1995 collection is perhaps my favourite ever collection: the materials are great individually (traditional fabrics like tweed as well as modern, experimental synthetics) and are also combined in surprising and satisfying ways. The patternmaking is extremely creative as you'd expect from Junya, and the clothes are, put simply, pretty special. I've been collecting them purposefully for this capsule since october 12, 2020, and the products you see here are the fruits of that purposefulness.

I've also included a few "surrounds" - items from spring 1995 (before), and spring 1996 and winter 1996 (afterwards) because it seemed interesting to me to look at the continuity between collections and also the differences.

Finally! If you're interested, I've scanned some runway images from these junya shows (along with reviews written at the time) which you can check out here.
