"Three Ways to Wear it" jacket

$480.00

A beige jacket by MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA line 6. It is made from a soft and slightly crumpled blend of cotton and linen, and has a twelve button, double breasted front. Line 6 garments from this era were typically stamped in order to categorise them ("LONG", "HEAVY WEIGHT" etc), and this jacket is no exception: the words "THREE WAYS TO WEAR IT" have been stamped onto the back neck. As this suggests, the jacket can be worn in a number of ways (three ways in fact), as more fabric than usual has been used to create the overlap for the double breasted fastening, so that each side of the front can extend either all the way to the buttons on the other side, or fold back on itself. The jacket can accordingly be fastened all the way up, to the neck, with the flaps folded down, or open but with both sides buttoned back onto themselves. The jacket also has a number of rectangular patch pockets, some of which become partially hidden depending on how the jacket is fastened.

A handy diagram of "instructions" showing all
"THREE WAYS TO WEAR IT" has been stamped onto the inside of the jacket (see picture). The garment also has the signature MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA tag with line 6 circled, but a back yoke has been added at the neck so that the straight line stitch which isused to secure the tags for MMM 6 garments is not visible on the outside.
