distressed v neck jumper

Regular price $440.00
A heavy, dark gray wool jumper by HOMME COMME DES GARCONS, which as we detail on our blog was the name for the COMME DES GARCONS men's line until 1984, when it was replaced with the more recognisable COMME DES GARCONS HOMME line. The jumper is made from a thick, low gauge wool knit, and has a low v-neck, thick bands of ribbing at the cuffs and hem, and is cut loose through the body. The knit has been intentionally distressed, with a number of irregular, misshapen holes and tears across the surface of the jumper. During the early 1980s Rei Kawakubo often intentionally sabotaged knitting machines, reportedly loosening screws "here and there" to create irregularities and intentional errors in her knitwear, and we believe this jumper is one example of the result of that process.
