reconstructed double tshirt

Regular price $240.00
Presented here an example of Rei Kawakubo's playful re-imagining of clothes for COMME DES GARCONS, this time in the form of a double t-shirt from 2006. The garment uses a simple, loose black tee as the base, onto which another, purple t-shirt is attached. What makes it interesting is the way this has been done, with the purple tee first cut in two, each half separated, and the back seams stitched down onto the black base tee with the fronts left hanging loose. This means, for example, that the sleeves of the purple layer remain functional sleeves, and the center front pieces are allowed to hang loose off the base. It is also apparent that the purple t-shirt was made up completely before being cut and sewn onto the black tee.
